The SUERTE idea got its start in late 2009. I was slowly putting together an idea, looking to create an ensemble of veteran musicians. The idea was to create (and) bring back, the Big Band Orquesta' traditionally seen/heard in the early 1970's Tejano Groups. Soon different musicians from different backgrounds were brought in, some auditioning and some friends just willing to help out fellow friends as musicians often do. I met our drummer Mike Alegria from a mutual friend. Mike and I shared the same vision. Mike suggested we put our plans together, he operating leading the Band and I bringing the SUERTE name with the management and marketing background.

In early 2010, SUERTE prepared for their first debut. After that initiation and awakening, auditions continued and others were invited to participate. The summer of 2010 began with a revamped SUERTE and the road to the Big Band Tejano Sound began. With Full Brass in hand, SUERTE, Tucson's Newest Variety Entertainment continues to work hard bringing to the public the Old School Tejano Classics and a wide range of Variety Music for our listeners and especially our dancers.

Henry Inocencio, Lead Vocals

Henry is SUERTE’s front man and lead vocalist.  This  Tejano vet was raised in Tucson but born in San Antonio, Texas where his Tejano roots began.  His smooth voice is nothing short of amazing.  His influences include Sunny&The Sunliners, Little Joe,  Malo, Santana, T.O.P. and the Motown sound.  He has played drums, percussion and sang with Chapala, Latin Rhythm , Amistad, and The Latin Express Band where he recorded as the lead vocal (Cuando Estas Conmigo).    “Tejano music has always been a part of me and my life, it’s in my blood.”

Frank Grijalva, Lead Guitar

Frank on Guitar.  “Pancho” has been performing for more than 40 years and is an actual veteran of “High Rise” and Adalberto’s Band.  He began playing with local Bands which included “Myles Hy” and the “Backstreet Band.  Pancho is also a retired member of the original Mariachi Cobre (34 years), spending 22 of those years performing at Walt Disney World EPCOT Center.  “I really enjoy now in being part of SUERTE’s Rhythm section.

On keyboards for SUERTE is Johnny Ray who comes from parts unknown. He is by far the most mysterious member of SUERTE!  A self-described handsome Gent, has achieved several body building awards.  He plays his instrument very well, and at age 39,is the youngest band member.  A true Capricorn, he likes hot women, monster trucks and stunning sunsets.

Johnny Morales, Trumpet/Trombone

Johnny, 2nd Trumpet for SUERTE got his early start playing trumpet in Grade School with Mariachi, and up into his High school years playing for Mariachi Aztlan.  As an adult Johnny continued with various Mariachi Groups in town.  Inspired by his family also filled with a history of musicians, an uncle, SUERTE’S very own drummer invited Johnny.  Johnny has enjoyed his first stint in a Tejano/Variety Band.
